Dedication to Education & Artist Development

Beyond artist management, Hartmann has dedicated a substantial portion of his career to education. He began teaching at Hollywood’s Musicians Institute in 2004, later lecturing for a decade at Loyola Marymount University's School of Film & Television, where students voted him Professor of the Year three times. He continued his teaching endeavors at UCLA, offering The Insider’s Guide to Music Management course for seven years before retiring in 2017. (Holodigm Academy)

To further his commitment to empowering musicians, Hartmann founded The Holodigm Academy, an online platform designed to educate and support artists in the digital age. His book, ROCK – Building Bands in the Digital Age, serves as a guide for musicians and bands aiming to build sustainable careers in an evolving industry. In 2021, he expanded his literary pursuits by completing his first novel, Above Below & Beyond, the first in a series of action mysteries. (Holodigm Academy)

Musibiz & The Holodigm Academy Collaboration

In 2009, while seeking information on music and band management, I discovered The Holodigm, an impressive website created by Professor John Hartmann. The site featured recorded classroom lectures brimming with insights from esteemed music industry professionals, including:

  • Jerry Berkley (America)
  • Ben Bernstine (Music Agent)
  • Jerry Boylan (Record Producer)
  • Harlan Goodman (VP of Music)
  • Cree Clover Miller (Attorney)
  • Ron Stone (Manager)
  • Howard Wolf (Promoter)

Immersing myself in this wealth of knowledge, I was profoundly influenced by Hartmann's vision and dedication to artist empowerment.

Inspired by his mission, I reached out to John Hartmann, and we established a collaborative relationship. Recognizing our shared goals, we worked together to develop The Holodigm Academy’s website, aiming to create an online training program for managers and artists worldwide. Our objective was to provide comprehensive resources and guidance, enabling artists to navigate the complexities of the digital music landscape independently. This collaboration culminated in the formation of Musibiz, an initiative dedicated to supporting and educating artists in the digital age.

Through our partnership, we have strived to address the challenges posed by the rapidly evolving music industry, ensuring artists have the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive. Our collective efforts reflect a commitment to fostering a music industry that honors and sustains the creativity of its artists.
