Sweet Neptune

From the Adriatic to the Stage

Sweet Neptune is a five-piece band with an origin story as unique as their sound. It all started in an unexpected place—floating in the Adriatic Sea while on holiday in Croatia. That’s where the idea first sparked for the original trio: Dean, Ben, and Sam. Inspired by the no-nonsense energy of The Chats, they set out to create music that was raw, fun, and full of life. After recording their first singles, they realized they needed extra hands to bring their vision to life on stage. That’s when Joel and Jack joined the lineup, adding depth and expanding the band's sonic range. From the start, Sweet Neptune has embraced an aquatic theme, reflecting their seaside origins and love for the water.

Meet the Crew

Dean (Bass, 24, Downpatrick) brings bass grooves that pack a punch, influenced by the gritty sounds of Gilla Band. He’s the foundation of the band’s sound, keeping everything tight and driving.

Ben (Guitar, 24, South Belfast) plays with a chill, melodic vibe heavily inspired by Mac DeMarco. As a founding member, his style and songwriting are essential to Sweet Neptune’s identity.

Sam (Drums, 23, Newtownards) keeps the beats fresh and dynamic, drawing from the eclectic vibes of Alex G. His energy behind the kit makes every live show electric.

Joel (Guitar, 21, Portrush) adds depth and texture to the band's sound, channelling the epic, expansive tones of And So I Watch You From Afar. His creativity shines through in every performance.

Jack (Baritone & Alto Saxophones, 23, Armagh) brings a unique texture to Sweet Neptune’s music. His unconventional playing, inspired by Oskar Carls of Viagra Boys, and his use of the baritone sax add a distinctive depth to the band's sound.

From Pav to Mandela Hall

Since evolving into a five-piece, Sweet Neptune has been on a steady rise. Starting with gigs at The Pavilion on Ormeau Road, they’ve climbed the ranks to bigger stages like Mandela Hall. Their live shows radiate energy and passion, earning them a loyal and growing fanbase.

What’s Next?

New music is on the way, and this is just the beginning. Sweet Neptune’s mix of influences and fearless approach to pushing boundaries ensure that there’s always something fresh on the horizon. From that first spark in the Adriatic to gigs across Belfast and beyond, it’s been an incredible journey so far. Stick around—we’re not slowing down anytime soon!
